Sunshine Coast Council have just announced new incentives for new bars, theatres, nightclubs, or hotels in the Nambour Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP).

Development application and infrastructure fees halved

The announcement includes the halving of development application fees for bars, theatres, nightclubs, or hotels in the Nambour Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP).

Council have also halved the infrastructure charges for developments in the area.

This means that for a 200sqm nightclub, for instance, the savings could be in the vicinity of $38,400. Not chump change.

The Nambour SEP was created to give operators greater certainty about their operating conditions, especially music venues.

For the Nambour SEP, it means venues are exempt from the amplified music noise requirements of the Queensland Government’s liquor licensing laws.

The SEP includes two buffer zones to protect surrounding neighbours from sound spill.

Time and dollar limits apply

The incentives are in place until June 2025 but are limited to a maximum of $10 million.

Incentive approvals are also granted on a first-in, first-served basis, so if you have been eyeing an opportunity in the Nambour SEP, it’s time to make your move.
